Multiculturalism or Assimilation

Multiculturalism or Assimilation?

Do we want immigrants to be part of Australia, or form separate communities?

These real life images highlight a problem with multiculturalism.

Very few people understand what a policy of multiculturalism really means; they often think it is a policy of being friendly and welcoming to immigrants.

Multicultralism has:

absolutely nothing to do with welcoming new immigrants.

Multiculturalism is:

"the belief that it is benenficial to a society to maintain more than one culture within its structure"

and "that each culture has its own inherited ideas, beliefs, values and knowledge ..."

Multiculturalism imposes no requirement that the immigrant should accept or follow the values of Australia or any other host country. Multiculturalism justifies a license to replicate the immigrant's old culture without any obligation to the new country of residence.

Multiculturalism has been a disaster in Europe, specifically with Muslim communities living as parallel societies within their host country, following their own beliefs and laws, even with 'no go' zones for non-Muslims. The Netherlands have abandoned the policy, and Germany, Britain and France declare it a disaster.

Immigration has been of  benefit to Australia, but immigrants who will not, or cannot (owing to their religion) assimilate, are of no value to Australia, and by living in their own segragated communities may even pose a threat to the host country.

If we do not want a break down of social cohesion, and have another set of laws based on the Sharia* system, then we should officially abandon multiculturalism in favour of a policy of assimilation. Assimilation of our values of freedom of speech, secular society, gender and social equality, seperation of the powers, rule of law, fair go etc.

*Sharia is Islamic God's law -- look how the Taliban interpret that.

Contact your local MP and push him or her to raise the issue. I have had the local branch of the Liberal party pass a motion to ask the Federal party to abandon multiculturalism.
